Whether you have any idea or not, people are already searching for your business on the web.
Doesn’t matter which business you belong to, millions of searches are performed under your niche every day. All you need to do is to uncover those search queries or so-called keywords which people are searching with.
The process of uncovering or researching for those keywords which are relevant & profitable for your business is called keyword research.

We will also go through all those tools & techniques which can be used to uncover your preferable keywords for a long run.
So, Let’s get started.
Since Keyword Research is the important phase of your On-Site SEO campaign, it should always be performed wisely. You should be ready with an excel sheet before doing keyword research so that you can organize & sort them well.
There are three things that should be taken care while auditing keywords for your business:
Here, we are going to perform a live keyword research for a Wedding Photographer website based in Thailand.
So, How’d you do it?
Keyword Research Process
Consider a Photographers’ website that provides wedding photography services to clients all over the world. But they specifically focus on Thailand, Greece & UK according to their website.
Let’s start our keyword research with the first Location, i.e. Thailand.
Starting with Basics
In this case, The audience is, of course, going to be grown up kids who are ready for marriage.
Let’s say Men & women between 25-40 years age who resides in Thailand.
The service, of course, is going to be Photography (Wedding photography to be very specific).
In the above case, The place is obviously gonna be Thailand. You can fragment it into various cities in Thailand like Bangkok, Chin Mai, Pattaya, etc.
So Now that we have determined our Audience, Place & products, Let’s dive into the first phase of Keyword research, which is none other than Brainstorming.
This is the initial phase of Keyword research process where you brainstorm few primary keywords based on the above three factors. All you need to do is combine those factors and come up with more specific & meaningful keywords for your business.
Let’s do it.
Considering the above scenario, I got the following keywords after brainstorming.
Wedding Photographer Thailand
Thailand Wedding Photographer
Thailand Wedding Photography
Wedding Photography Thailand
We just brainstormed 4 high-quality keywords for our website based on the business service, audience & place. Let’s add them to our excel sheet.
Let’s now move forward with these keywords for our second step.
Whenever you type any keyword in the google search bar, it displays various similar relevant keywords or queries as suggestions. This is known as Google suggestions. You can get these suggestions while typing your search query and at the end of the SERP (search engine result page).
Let me type one of the four brainstormed keywords in the Google search bar and see what suggestions they have for us.
Make sure to change your IP address to Thailand before you do that because Google usually suggests you keywords based on your Location.
This is the result I got from Google suggestions at the end of the page.
You may get a different result based on your search & location.
I typed my second keyword “Thailand Wedding Photographer” and this is the result that I got.
You can continue this process with each of your brainstormed keywords.
Once you get a list of keywords from Google suggestion, it’s now time to sort out those keywords based on relevancy & add them to the excel list.
From the above suggestions, Here are some of the hand-picked keywords for this business that I added to the excel sheet.
We have now got a list of some high quality & important keywords for our website.
It’s now time to use various Keyword tools & techniques to enlarge the keyword list.
I would like to list a few of the tools that I use for Keyword research.
Finding LSI Keywords
LSI or Latent semantic keywords refer to the keyword or search queries based on the user intent.
What is a user intent?
A user intent literally means the state of mind or the main intention of the user behind a Google search.
If someone is searching for word “Photography”, it is not certain that the user is either interested in learning photography, buying a camera, need information about photography or if he is seeking for photography service.
But if he types “wedding photography price in Bangkok”, it is most probable that the user is searching for photography service in Thailand. He is surely not interested in learning photography or buying a DSLR.
These very intentive or instructive keywords are called LSI keywords. They generally have a lower search volume but are very important for your business.
Importance of LSI keywords
- Good for SEO
- Increases Traffic
- Better Conversion rate since the intent of users behind these searches are generally conversion (needing information about service, package, fee, etc).
- Boost Brand awareness
- Increases sales
- Boost ROI

Ex: Wedding photographer Thailand
These keywords are very important when it comes to SEO point of view.
Advantages Of Long tail keywords
- They have a good search intent.
- Although these keywords have low search volume compared to generic keywords like “photography” or “photography Thailand” but they tend to have a better conversion rate. They are good at driving traffic.

Now, The question is, what to do with all those keywords lists?
Here comes the next step, which is Keyword analysis, where you sort out those keywords on the basis of some metrics and finalize for your website.
Sorting Out Keywords
The first step is to sort out those keywords on the basis of relevancy. Relevancy here means whether or not that keyword is relevant to the product or service you are offering.
Once sorted out the irrelevant keywords, now its term to analyze the keywords on the basis of search volume & competition.
A couple Of Things to remember
- Don’t go for a generic keyword which has very large monthly keyword search volume & competition. This will land you nowhere as it will take years for you to rank for that keywords since people have already been working on that keyword for a long time, especially large companies.
- Always prefer Long tails keywords which have better search intent. Look for an average search volume keywords in your area with a low competition. There are many of them. I am sure you will sort them out.
Finalizing keywords for your webpage
After sorting out keywords on the basis of the above techniques, you will now be left with a handful of keywords which are highly relevant, long tail and a better choice keyword for your business.

With a list of relevant & meaningful keywords in your excel sheet, it’s now time to use those keywords at the right place. Let me discuss few places to use your relevant keywords in your website.
Always remember to put your primary keywords in your URL.
You can see this strategy implemented in all of the webpreneurs Hub articles & web pages.
In the above scenario, the main keyword is Digital Marketing.
This is the main Title of your webpage. Always remember that meta tags need to be kept for all of the pages on your website.
Meta Title gives the user an idea about what your website is about and should be restricted to 70 characters including spaces. This is a good technique to let users & search engine about your webpage.
Keyword inside Title is also one of the considering factors of Google Ranking algorithm.
In contrary to the title, Meta description provides the description of a particular website. This should be no longer than 300 characters including spaces and is recommended to insert your main keyword inside meta description as well.
In WordPress, It is very easy to set up your Meta tags. All you need to do is install Yoast plugin and then you can set up your title & description manually. This plugin also provides you an extra advantage to insert your focus keyword in the webpage.
As you can see in the screenshot how easy it is to set up meta tags in WordPress
Keyword placement is a very necessary aspect when you are writing articles for your website or blog. Doesn’t matter how good your article is but if you have not played with the right keywords, that’s not worth it.
So, it is always recommended to place your primary & seed keywords in your contents for a better chance of ranking.
